Her empire is about to get even bigger!
While the second helping of Empire may not have lived up to the immense success of Season One, Lee Daniels sure is bringing out the big guns for Season Three.
That’s because more than a year after announcing her casting, we’re FINALLY getting some new information about Mariah Carey‘s highly anticipated appearance!
FOX talked up the musical drama at the Television Critics Association press tour on Monday, where they confirmed that while the singer WILL NOT be playing herself… she might as well be.

Apparently, Mariah will be portraying a superstar named Kitty — where have we heard that before? — who is brought in to partner up with Jussie Smollett‘s Jamal for a brand-new song.
That’s sounds pretty entertaining in itself, but as long as we get a scene between Mariah and Taraji P. Henson when she stops by on October 5, we’ll be content!
Plus, as if that weren’t enough, Mariah’s other new show Mariah’s World premieres on E! this December, which means we’re not gonna be emancipating from Mimi anytime soon!
