UPDATE 5:25 P.M. EST: Jane Lynch further weighed in on Tuesday when TMZ caught up with her to ask how she was doing. She told the outlet his death is “tragic and very sad” before saying that’s probably all she’ll have to say on the matter. When asked how she’ll remember him, she replied, “as the guy who made that really sweet video in the beginning of Glee when he was so happy to be apart of the group. It’s tragic. Brokenhearted.”
What shocking news.
As we reported earlier, Mark Salling took his own life on Tuesday morning. It’s said the Glee alum was founded deceased outside in the northeast San Fernando Valley. He was 35 years old at the time of his passing.

Salling’s attorney, Michael J. Proctor, has since confirmed the tragic news as he released a statement on Mark’s death. He noted to the press:
“I can confirm that Mark Salling passed away early this morning. Mark was a gentle and loving person, a person of great creativity, who was doing his best to atone for some serious mistakes and errors of judgment. He is survived by his mother and father, and his brother. The Salling family appreciates the support they have been receiving and asks for their privacy to be respected.”
In case you forgot, Mark was slated to be sentenced in early March as he previously pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography involving a prepubescent minor. Unsurprisingly, reactions from Salling’s peers have already begun to trickle in on Twitter (below).
Oh Mark

Today we lost another #Glee cast member.Yes, he committed crimes against children.Yes, it’s horrific. But #MarkSalling was a broken man, no doubt an abuse victim himself. I loved Mark, and am sad when I consider the devastation of his parents. PLEASE withhold your cruel comments.

Jane Lynch weighed in on the news by retweeting the message (directly above).
Let me be clear. Having compassion for #MarkSalling in no way minimizes his crimes, nor does it minimize the pain and devastation of the victims of those crimes. I’m just saying stop adding to his family’s pain. This was their son. If you’re without sin, feel free to cast stones.

Additionally, Matthew Morrison took to Instagram to post a shot of himself with Mark and Cory Monteith, captioning it simply with angel and sad face emojis.
While not exactly a peer, director Joseph Kahn also spoke out on the news, condemning the zealous tweets that seem to be celebrating Mark’s suicide:
Yesterday: Logan Paul you are disgusting and problematic for being insensitive to suicide. All lives matter.
Today: Mark Salling killed himself. Yay!

Mark may’ve been a troubled human, but our thoughts are with his loved ones during this time.
