Meghan McCain isn’t on The View to make friends!
John McCain’s daughter continues to make headlines for her many blowup fights on the ABC morning program — particularly with cohost Joy Behar — so, it should surprise no one that the conservative commentator thinks of the gig as a battlefield.
A source told ET that, while the 34-year-old definitely doesn’t love the negative attention she’s getting from her constant fights on the show, Meg would never back down from her more liberal cohosts when it comes to the “Hot Topics” they disagree on.

The insider explained:
“Meghan is in a tough position. She has a completely different view from the others and she isn’t willing to acquiesce. Joy and Whoopi [Goldberg] aren’t offended by her standing her ground, because that’s part of the show. But Meghan also fights back harder than the other hosts would like.”
The source went on to say the other hosts “don’t appreciate how [McCain] handles their disagreements,” adding:
“The other hosts don’t appreciate how she handles their disagreements. She crosses so many lines because she says exactly what’s on her mind and she doesn’t care which of the hosts she offends. She clearly isn’t trying to make friends.”
Which is good news for the viewers hoping to catch some unfriendly political discourse in the mornings!
Strong-willed or not, the show’s alleged War on Meghan has definitely been taking a toll on the Arizona native. As we reported, the self-described “sacrificial Republican” of the program was said to be possibly exiting the show for good due to all the drama.

However, a spokesperson for the show insisted that all of the hosts will return “for an epic year ahead,” while ET’s source doubled down that Meg won’t be going anywhere, continuing:
“Meghan hates the negative attention the show has brought to her lately and every day feels like she is going to war… She does not want to leave the show because she knows it is such a great platform for her. She always acts like she wants to leave but that’s just her using her muscle because she’s a draw for the ratings.”
The insider added that Meghan knows how valuable she is as the show’s “sacrificial Republican,” which is another reason why she never holds back her unfiltered opinions:
“She certainly is valued for some of her opinions. All the drama keeps the show a ratings hit so, despite her behavior, it won’t likely put her job in jeopardy.”
Basically, Meghan vs. Joy arguments are TV gold and everyone knows it — including Ms. McCain herself.
Maybe that’s why her last big blowup argument with the comedienne ended with Meg memorably saying:
Like we said… TV gold!
The show is very aware of this too, as a rep for The View told the outlet:
“Every day each of our smart and talented co-hosts come to the table prepared to explain and passionately defend their individual takes on the Hot Topics. This is exactly what The View has always been and will continue to be.”
So… prepare for battle!
