At least she knew who Derek Jeter was!
The Yankee shortstop’s girlfriend since 2008, Minka Kelly, revealed in HBO’s new documentary, Derek Jeter 3K, that she didn’t know ANYTHING about baseball before they began dating!
She shared in a scene in the doc about her boyfriends quest for his 3,000th hit:
“When I met Derek, I didn’t know anything about baseball at all. I didn’t know the difference between a run and a homerun. I thought if you made a connection with the ball, that was an automatic hit.”
If that were true, A LOT more baseball players would have surpassed 3,000 hits! After her revelation, Jeter was quick to joke:
“She’s lying. She had a poster of me on her wall when she was in high school.”
LOLz! Since he won Rookie of the Year around the time she was old enough to drive, it’s entirely possible she did!
He later corroborated her story and said she “really didn’t know a thing about baseball. ├óΓé¼┬ª I’d come home and she’d be happy and say, ‘You got four hits!'”
Those days are long gone for them though. Minka is at Yankee stadium as much as Derek is as she roots him on during home games from his luxury box.
