Taylor Frankie Paul says her other #MomTok stars are “nervous” about the release of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives!
As Perezcious readers will remember all too well, a group of Mormon mommas blew up on TikTok back in 2022 when Taylor exposed the group for participating in some “soft swinging.” Basically, there was a group of ’em who would hook up with each other’s spouses, so swinging — but penetrative sex was strictly off-limits. Things quickly got messy as some people “developed feelings.” It was a HUGE scandal for a small community. It tore the group apart and caused so many friend splits and divorces! Naturally, Hulu jumped on the opportunity to turn that controversy into ratings. They started filming a group of the women in the community for a new series which premieres on Friday.
Interestingly, though, Taylor is the only one in the cast who was directly involved in the swinging scandal. So we’ll just be getting her side of it? Hmm. So now that the show is almost out, some other Mormon mommies are starting to come out of the woodwork. Taylor thinks it’s cause they’re freaking out and trying to get ahead of any potential problems!

While chatting with TooFab on Thursday, she was asked if she wished others who were linked to the scandal spoke up when it happened or on the show, and she had a LOT of thoughts. She shared:
“Yeah. I’m actually glad you’ve asked this because you’re the first person to ask me this. Yes, absolutely. It’s unfortunate because they’re coming out after the fact of the show being filmed. I felt like out of respect to them, I don’t believe I used any names of people involved. I was very respectful, like, I could have came out and fully said it, you know?”
She added:
“But when the trailer was released, there’s podcasts being made, there’s people coming out now and it’s just, like–“
Her co-star Jessi Ngatikaura chimed in, “Damage control.” Taylor continued:
“They’re just nervous. And I’m like, where was all this when you could have–? and who’s to say I even talked about you on the show anyways?”
If they’d been a part of the show, they certainly could’ve shaped the narrative a lot better! But we guess they wanted to pretend it wasn’t happening for as long as they could? Or to put it another way… turn it off like a light switch?
So now, instead of participating, some MomTokkers are taking to their own platforms and podcasts to spill the tea. For example, Miranda McWhorter (inset above) dragged herself and pal Camille Munday back into the controversy when appearing on Weekly Trash last month. She revealed she and Camilla were approached about doing the show but both declined:
“For our lives, it didn’t feel right at all.”
Taylor later took to her TikTok to hit back at their version of the story, arguing they really just didn’t want to be on a show with her. In response, Miranda shared texts showing they were concerned about Taylor’s assault case at the time (which hadn’t been resolved when they had to sign onto the show). Her ex-husband Chase McWhorter also defended her, suggesting Taylor is just making all this a big deal to get “some clicks and views for the upcoming show.” Oof! It is a good PR strategy!

@theeweeklytrash Would have been great television @Miranda ???????? #secretlivesofmormonwives
@taylorfrankiepaul Lets just say I went easy on this #momtok #momsoftiktok

The show, by the way, will actually feature a lot about Taylor’s legal trouble. Back in February 2023, Taylor was arrested for aggravated assault, two counts of domestic violence in the presence of a child, child abuse with injury and criminal mischief. All of this based on a volatile argument with her boyfriend Dakota Mortensen, according to Herriman police in Salt Lake County. Per court docs, she pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated assault and the rest of the charges were dropped.
Look, if the other ladies didn’t want to be dragged into another high-profile scandal after barely getting through the swinging chaos, we get it! It’s understandable. But if you want privacy, why are you speaking out at all??
Innerestingly, several of the men who did take part in the series are also “nervous” about the world seeing their actions. Reflecting on her boyfriend’s feelings, Taylor said of Dakota:
“I think he had intention of being like a good boyfriend and protective and I think it could come off completely different and he’s nervous for how he’s gonna come off ’cause he’s such a genuine good guy at the end of the day.”
She added:
“I can’t speak for the other guys, but there were some things I’m sure you saw in there that they might regret doing on TV.”
Jessi furthered:
“But how many times do you get to watch the mistakes back, you know? So hopefully they can take it and grow. But there are some husbands and boyfriends that are probably gonna be cringe-watching it.”
Hah! Seems like there’s going to be a lot more drama to come — both on and off-screen! Hear the stars open up more about the show (below):
