Wow, Neil Diamond truly IS a legend — and there’s no way he’ll be going out without cementing that in the pages of history! Ha!
Not only did he make a surprise visit to sing Sweet Caroline at the first Red Sox game (above) since the horrific Boston Marathon bombing, but we’re now learning that he’s decided to donate the proceeds to a Boston charity!!
That’s right, all proceeds this week will go to Boston’s One Fund!
Here’s what he said when he tweeted a Nielsen Entertainment report showing sales bump in his hit 1969 song:
“Donating these royalties to #OneFund.”
If you’re wondering, he’s sold about 19,000 copies in the wake of last week’s terrorist attack!
Also, the song is inspired by one of Massachusetts’s favorite residents, Caroline Kennedy, and is a tradition at Fenway Park! For the past 13 years, the song is played during the eighth inning!
We’re so incredibly happy to hear that Neil is continuing his support, even if Boston is as strong as ever!!
