The star of the new Star Trek movie, Chris Pine, is making peace with former cast member William Shatner.
Shatner originally played the role of Captain Kirk in the Star Trek series but was denied a cameo spot in the new movie. That led Shatner to speak out publicly against the decision and rejection.
So Pine took it upon himself, perhaps after the suggestion of his PR rep, to contact the bitter Shatner and try to resolve things.
According to Pine, he says:
“I wrote William Shatner a letter and explained who I was because I heard there was bad blood between him and the studio. I said, ‘I’m just an actor who happened to get a role that happened to be James T. Kirk, and I’m not trying to usurp your status or anything’. He replied, ‘Thank you very much for the letter. I wish you the best of luck.’ I have it on my fridge.”
Awe, so heart warming and so well-played!
Wonder if Shatner will watch the new movie?
