Prince William Really Opens Up About His Fears For Family's Safety During The Pandemic! Watch!

It’s so nice to see such a vulnerable side of Prince William.

We’ve become accustomed over the past few months to hearing about how Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are emotionally rattled by things like press coverage and family feuds. But it’s markedly less often you see the future king talking about his feelings.

But that’s exactly what happened on Friday morning when Will and Kate Middleton did a long-distance interview on BBC Breakfast to talk about the effects of the pandemic.

The Duke of Cambridge got real candid about how much the coronavirus had personally affected him when his father, Prince Charles, was diagnosed with COVID-19. He said:

“I have to admit at first I was quite concerned. He fits the profile of somebody — the age he is at, which is, you know, fairly risky.”

However, he was able to stay positive, thanks to how tough he knew the Duke of Cornwall to be:

“And so I was a little bit worried, but my father has had many chest infections, colds and things like that over the years. And so I thought to myself, if anybody’s going to be able to beat this it’s going to be him.”

Charles had to be quarantined away from his wife, Camilla, which sounds just awful — but Will said that wasn’t actually the worst part for his poppa:

“I think the hardest thing he found was having to stop and not be able to go and get a bit of fresh air and go for a walk. He’s a mad walker. He loves his walking. So I think he found it quite difficult… with his mental health, being stuck inside and not being able to go for walks.”

Obviously it’s not just Charles that Will has had to worry about. The 37-year-old also touched on the health concerns, shared by a great many in the country, about Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip. He reflected:

“I think very carefully about my grandparents who are, you know, at the age they’re at, and we’re doing everything we can to make sure that they’re, you know, isolated away and protected from this.”

Her Majesty is 93 years old, about to turn 94 next week. And her husband is 98! So they are very much in the highest risk area.

Having that close a connection to those at risk has made the Prince especially cognizant of the dangers of the novel coronavirus to the general public. He explained:

“But it does worry me, you know, what’s going to happen to a lot of the vulnerable people and the high-risk people who are going to potentially have to isolate away for quite some time, and the impact that’s going to have on them and on families up and down the country having to do that.”

William, who lost his mother Princess Diana when he was just 15 years old, finished his remarks about the impact of the virus by sharing the insight:

“Trauma comes in all sorts of shapes and forms and we can never know or be prepared for when it is going to happen to us. People are going to feel angry, they’re going to feel confused; they’re going to feel scared. That is all normal feelings. And that is, unfortunately, all part of the grieving process.”

It sounds like England is going to get quite the compassionate king one day.
