Rebel Wilson's Gotten 'Amazing Results' With This Chewing-Centric Weight Loss Method!

Rebel Wilson has been watching what she eats — and how she eats it!

According to People, the Pitch Perfect star has gotten “amazing results” on her weight loss journey by sticking to a diet plan after visiting Austria’s luxury medical detox and wellness center VivaMayr last year.

A source told the outlet that the 40-year-old actress has been following the center’s Mayr Method diet plan, which is based on the “Mayr Cure,” created by Austrian physician Dr. Franz Xaver Mayr almost 100 years ago. 

VivaMayr officials believe that most people are poisoning their digestive systems with what — and how — they eat, and use Mayr’s philosophy to help clients eliminate snacking, reduce gluten and dairy intake, and change how they chew their food.

Dr. Christine Stossier, assistant medical director of VivaMayr, told The Guardian in 2017:

“Everything starts with the gut… The fundamental principle is that you can improve someone’s health through digestion.” 

Meals on the Mayr plan include whole foods with high alkaline content, like veggies, fresh fish, and sheep’s milk yogurt.

But it’s not just about what clients eat: it’s about how quickly they eat. For breakfast, clients are given a spelt bread (bread made out of spelt flour instead of wheat flour) so they can train themselves to focus on consuming slowly.

According to Jezebel, VivaMayr instructs clients to count out 30 chews per mouthful. Moreover, they cannot have their phones with them at meals — which are supposed to be scheduled at least four hours apart — and cannot drink water while they’re eating.

A source close to the star told People:

“It’s an approach that eliminates food intolerances, reduces sugar, encourages eating whole foods slowly, boosts the immune system and reduces inflammation.” 

As for the Aussie actress, who recently declared that 2020 is her “Year of Health,” the insider said she’s been working on her weight loss goals through a combination of the VivaMayr diet plan, workouts, and frequent walks. The confidante explained:

“She exercises with a personal trainer up to six times a week, goes on walks and is trying to up her protein intake nutritionally. I know she’s also been working on conquering her emotional eating patterns of behavior.”

AH-Mazing!!!
