As Perezcious readers know, right after the Little Fires Everywhere star announced her divorce from Jim Toth last month, rumors started swirling that she was seeing the hunky football player. He’s fresh out of his own divorce from Gisele Bündchen, and with their business backgrounds, it just made sense. Naturally, the internet freaked the f**k out — so we’re sorry to burst some of your bubbles now!

As exciting as this matchup may be, it’s apparently just a piece of (really juicy) fiction at this point.
Both Reese and Tom’s representatives told People on Wednesday that the word on the street about their rumored romance is completely false. In fact, one source even said they’ve NEVER even met!
WHAT?
Guess it was too good to be true!!
How’d we all get duped into thinking they could be the next great couple? Well, it all started when DeuxMoi posted a blind item they’d received, which declared:
“A-list actress who JUST announced her divorce is newly dating A-list NFL athlete who is also recently divorced”
If that wasn’t obvious enough the email address included the phrases “legally blonde” and “patriots […] buccaneers” to make it crystal clear!

While we never had this particular pairing on our bingo card, it kinda made sense. After dominating in their respective fields, they both went on to spearhead very successful businesses. Also, they’re both in the entertainment industry! Considering the fact one of the reasons the actress cut things off with her husband is because he wasn’t as ambitious as her, dating someone with an empire of his own seemed up her alley!
As mentioned, the Your Place or Mine lead announced her shocking split from the former CAA agent last month after over a decade together. While the co-parents of 10-year-old Tennessee didn’t say why they were going their separate ways, a source revealed on the Deux U podcast that Jim suffered from a “wandering eye.” They shared:
“He’s had a wandering eye for years, but she’s turned a blind eye and basically has been OK with it — as long as it never got out or got back to her. She only asked for discretion, and apparently he’s been getting sloppy.”
They also reportedly couldn’t see eye to eye on where to live. After reaching major success with their co-owned company Hello Sunshine, their dreams for the future drifted apart:
“He is significantly less driven and ambitious than her and is content to just maintain the status quo, whereas she is obsessed with the next deal, next project, next big thing.”
Another source told The US Sun that Jim was going through a “midlife crisis.” For his part, Tom has been getting over his nasty split from Gisele. They ended their 13-year relationship in October and have been co-parenting their two children, Benjamin, 13, and Vivian, 10, ever since. Now that Tom’s no longer in the NFL, he’s got a ton of change to still get used to.
