Steve Irwin is one of those universally respected icons, and we’re happy to see that Bindi — who we saw as a very little girl featured on her dad’s show — is growing into such a beautiful young woman (above), one who loves to honor her father!
At 15 years old, she still calls Steve the “greatest dad on the planet,” and plans to continue his legacy! Awwww!
Here’s what she said about her late dad:
‘He was the greatest dad on the planet. He was our inspiration, who we looked up to the most and, for us, we wanna carry on his legacy. With dad, he was the ultimate wildlife warrior and we admired him more than anything. Dad honestly was incredible. We never got nervous about him with animals, but I do remember he gave me a piece of advice that has stuck with me forever.’
And here’s that piece of flawless advice:
‘He said, “You have to treat animals the way you wish to be treated.” Which is so true. And I think that applies to all animals. We wanna make sure that his message of wildlife and conservation continues, because he was the world’s greatest conservationist and so we never want that message to die.’
What an incredible 15-year-old!! Not many people can be as mature as she is… even at double her age!
Especially after suffering Steve’s death at such an impressionable age six years ago.
We wish her luck on her journey — and we’re willing to bet she’ll pave a way JUST like her father, while making it her own!
