Oh deary dear, someone over at NBC is playing with television ratings fire and they’re about to get BURNED, son, ’cause execs at the peacock network just added a THIRD episode of The Voice to clash with next week’s X Factor premiere!!
Originally, the NBC singing competition starring Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Cee-Lo Green, and Blake Shelton was to only air Mondays and Tuesday nights this fall, so that fans of that particular genre could watch BOTH The Voice and the newly revamped X Factor featuring Britney Spears and Demi Lovato…
But execs over at NBC recently added a third episode of The Voice to air during the SAME night as the X Factor premiere next week!
And of course, X Factor‘s main daddy Simon Cowell is NOT a happy camper!
Simon recently shared his thoughts on the whole last minute switch up, expressing his belief that NBC pitted the shows against each other to play off of the old ‘rivalry’ between pop princess and fellow mouseketeers, Britney and Xtina!
The reality mastermind states:
“This is a cynical, cold-hearted, unprofessional way of doing business. Britney’s not going to appreciate the fact that Christina — who has been a bit of a rival — isn’t allowing Britney to have a night of her own. These guys have really got it in for us. It’s nothing short of dirty tricks… [Britney’s] going to be devastated because she’s put her heart and soul into this…. I can’t bear it that the network is playing political games and playing with the audience.”
Oooo them’s some fighting words, Mr. Cowell!!
But we tend to agree, ’cause why else would the network slap on an extra Voice episode?!
And honestly, it’s most likely gonna bite NBC in their feathery ass, because who would swap the PREMIERE of X Factor featuring the revered Britney and the beloved Demi, for the third episode of The Voice?!
Weird move NBC dudes!
