Jessica Simpson is letting fans know where she and Eric Johnson currently stand.
Last month, the 44-year-old confirmed she and her husband of 10 years had split after a LOT of speculation. Insiders have since shared she’s “focusing on herself and wellbeing” as she and Eric come to grips with their separation, but that there hasn’t actually “been a lot of movement toward a divorce.” Instead, they’re just taking all the time they need to sort themselves out and begin to experience life without each other… But that’s not to say they’re out of each other’s lives for good!

On Wednesday, the Irresistible singer spoke to People about how working on her new album helped her through the difficult period of life:
“I’ve grown up so much. I can handle so much. Maybe I’m just meant to love a lot of people in my life. I don’t know why my heart gets tossed around but I’m one of the lucky ones.”
Poor girl! Prior to Eric, she was married to Nick Lachey from 2004 to 2006. She’s also been linked to names like John Mayer, Adam Levine, Johnny Knoxville, Tony Romo, and others before ultimately tying the knot with Eric in 2014. And while their marriage didn’t last and her heart has once again been “tossed around,” she surprisingly revealed he still plays a very active role in her life — and always will:
“At least I have my children and I still have Eric. He’s still very much a part of my life and will always be.”
Wow! Honestly, we get it. Together, the estranged pair share Maxwell, 12, Ace, 11, and Birdie, 5. That kinda binds you for life! At least it sounds like things are amicable! As for recording her new music in Tennessee, she told the outlet:
“Discovering this music is something I did on my own. Thank God I had Nashville, it was just a way of me owning myself and declaring it. I am a woman now and I can do what I want and to have freedom in music — I think that’s what you’re going to feel in Nashville Canyon.”
Good for her! It sounds like she’s managing to balance things very nicely.
