Tiger Woods Opts Out Of British Open

Tiger Woods is prioritizing health over more sports fame.

Tiger has decided to pull out from the British Open for the second straight major and will possibly be pulling out of other future golfing events as well in order to stay on top of his healing.

With news of injuries to his left knee and Achilles tendon keeping him from playing, Tiger insists on resting his body until it is fully healed — heavy line-up of golf events or not.

The uber-famous golfer states:

I wouldn’t go over there just to show up. I’d go over there to win the golf tournament, so I need to obviously get my body ready. I am only going to come back when I’m 100 percent ready. I do not want to risk further injury.

While this is good news for his body, it arouses questions of his future.

Optimistic, however, Woods isn’t fearful of what lies ahead of him in his career. He says:

I think my best years are still ahead of me, and I’m very confident and optimistic about the future.

Good job, Tiger. We think this is a really smart decision. We think you’re setting a great example for athletes everywhere.
