Tim Tebow is officially starting his career in professional baseball!
In case you didn’t know, the former NFL quarterback decided to pull a Michael Jordan and try his luck at playing baseball recently — and apparently, the switchover is proving to be quite easy for the sports phenomenon.
That’s because the New York Mets just signed the 29-year-old to a minor league contract to play for the team’s Instructional League!

Last week, the athlete worked out for nearly 50 scouts from 28 MLB teams in El Lay, and will now head to the Mets Instructional League in Port St. Lucie, Florida, to start the next chapter in his Goldilocks-esque sports story.
The team made the official announcement on Twitter Thursday morning, saying:

Though the outfielder hasn’t played baseball regularly since his junior year of high school, the Heisman Trophy winner insists he’s serious about pursuing his dream of playing America’s greatest pastime professionally.
And now that he’s declared his football career essentially over, the 255-pound left-hander is sliding head first into his other favorite sport, hoping for “a career in the big leagues.”

In fact, he spoke to the press about his career change just last week, saying:
“I just want to be someone to pursue what I believe in, what I’m passionate about. A lot of people will say, ‘But what if you fail? What if you don’t make it?’ Guess what? I don’t have to live with regret. I did everything I could. I pushed it. I would rather be someone that could live with peace and no regret than what-if, or being scared.”
With that confidence, we’re sure Tebow will be swinging his way up to the major leagues in no time!
