The End Is Coming For What's Left Of Up All Night!

Production on the NBC comedy Up All Night has been pretty much troubled since the series was in its conception, as it underwent multiple creative changes all the way through its first season and well into its second…to the point where the network was convinced the best course of action to take for the final five episodes this year would be to switch the format from single camera to multi-camera, and all in front of a live studio audience!
However, this was apparently the straw that broke star Christina Applegate‘s back, as she recently announced that she would be resigning from the show only months after series creator Emily Spivey did the same, leaving producers desperate for a replacement and unsure where to go from here!
Well, guess what, you guys?
It sounds like the only place Up All Night is going is down to cancelation station, as NBC and remaining castmembers Maya Rudolph and Will Arnett just don’t think there’s really too much here that can be salvaged!
And we don’t blame them!
Sources reveal that at least one of them is uncomfortable moving forward without a clear concept or new direction for what was once a comedy about the struggles of being a working parent, and the network is weary of having had to hire three different sets of showrunners in only a season and a half of it being on the air!
Furthermore, insiders have revealed that the network has already offered Rudolph a role on one of their new pilots while Arnett is being courted by ABC and CBS, all of which is a pretty big indication that they’re being released from their contracts!
YEESH! What an EFFING MESS.
And truly such a shame, given the amount of potential with which it started out!
Especially since they were never really given the chance to figure out the ideal voice and tone, without what we’re sure was incessant interference from suits!
Here’s hoping that they’ll stop beating this clearly-dead horse and let it go out with the little dignity it has left!
