Willie Nelson Cancels Upcoming SeaWorld Show After Blackfish Controversy!

Here’s taking a stand!
Willie Nelson has cancelled an upcoming concert at Florida’s SeaWorld due to criticism from animal rights activists, surrounding the controversial doc Blackfish.
The event was scheduled for next year and it was supposed to be a part of SeaWorld’s Bands, Brew & BBQ events.
Officially, he blamed scheduling conflicts, which is true if the schedule conflicts with his moral code! Ha! No, but really, it seems like it’s just a growing trend in performers thinking twice before going ahead and performing at a park that keeps animals in captivity.
In fact, interestingly enough, The Barenaked Ladies have also snubbed the event over animal rights issues, saying:

“We’ve talked things over, and decided not to play at Seaworld at this time… This is a complicated issue… but we don’t feel comfortable proceeding with the gig at this time. The Seaworld folks have been gracious and extended us invitations to the park to learn more about what they do, and how they do it.”

The events taking their places are due to take place in February and March.
We know some people are probably bummed, but we bet there are other ways to go see them perform!
