Jamie Spears is rightfully very upset about his sixteen year old daughter's pregnancy and the circumstances surrounding the public disclosure of the news.
Poppa Spears is said to be "furious" with Jamie Lynn and ex-wife Lynne for selling the story to OK! magazine.
"He put his foot down and refused to take any money and 'profit off of his children,'" a source tells Us Weekly. "Lynne didn't care."
It is not known how much OK! paid Jamie Lynn and Lynne for their exclusive interviews and pictures.
However, poppa Jamie is "devastated" by the news. He's "extremely depressed" and "feels Jamie Lynn ruined her life."

It is absolutely shocking (at least to me) at how this whole situation is being treated. This is a 16-year-olg girl who had her whole life in front of her - education, the partying 20s, a career (not that she can't still have one). But will be giving birth at the age of 17 and giving up so much of her life. And the fact that she is essentially pimping her pregnancy, what kind of message does that send to her child? You can be the best parent in the world but that does not mean you can always control your child's actions. I am a mother of two and they are like night and day. I consider myself a good mom but while my daughter excels at school, goes to church, sings in choir, volunteers to Christmas Carol at Old Folk's Homes, etc…….My son is ditching school, getting busted with pot, sent to Juvenile Hall, etc etc. No matter how much you plead, punish, or try to guide some people in the right path, people are people and in the end they make decisions for themselves. Don't blame the parentswithout knowing them personally. For that matter don't blame them at all. I have friends who were sexually and physically abused as children but still made good lives for themselves and are respectable people. I knew the difference between right and wrong when I was 16, no matter what my parents were doing. I am sick and tired of kids these days blaming their parents for their actions.

Its the parents fault to a point, but there comes a time when the child has to take responsibilty for their OWN actions.
