They're Not Above Groveling

The Hollywood Foreign Press, which produces the Golden Globes, has released a statement, begging the Writers Guild for an interim agreement that would allow the awards show to go on as scheduled this month without any pickets.

Click here to read their statement.

The WGA has denied the HFP any sort of waiver. It will be interesting to see if they change their position.

I heard the ex-contestants of "Big Brother" and "The Bachelor" are gonna fill in on the red carpet and accepting the awards on behalf of Hollywood. Carrot Top's gonna host.

As a writer supporting WGA strike, I hope they do not waive it after they already rejected it.

    44

I know you side with the writers on this perez…. but… THIS IS FUCKING BULLSHIT!!! They need to just fire all the fucking writers and find some new talent out there already!!!! This strike is bullshit, and at this point I think the writers not worth all this trouble!!!

Though I want this writers' strike to end as soon as humanly possible and I also want the Golden Globes to be televised, I definitely side with the writers. They aren't paid nearly what they deserve. The writers are the spine of the televison industry. Some of these writers are utterly irreplaceable. Imagine a 30 Rock without Tina Fey writing it? Doesn't sound pretty to me.

We won't be able to see the naricistic celebrities get awards in pretty tuxes and dresses? Spare me.

    I agree with #44 KML.

If these writers are earning high five, six, and seven figures, this strike is just plain elitist and ungrateful. A picket line of upper middle class and wealthy Hollywood supporters. A sign of the times. There are millions of amazing writers writing for free all over he internet because it's step into the door. There are millions of freelancers today grateful for 12 an hour. So why does Perez a so called man of the people a so called underdog who made something from nothing have so much damn empathy for the snob strike. They have jobs, insurance, perks, own homes. The writer making 7 an hour at a video store while they try to get in the door would die to get paid a real salary to write and work on major programs. I say have the Golden Globes and hand out awards on the picket line to the ungrateful brats. I'd hand their awards right on the picket line. And I'd hire starving writers to be the presenters and hand out the awards.

I paid a shit load of money to sit on the red carpet this year. I called to try and get my money back they told me no way. So I guess I will still go and see no one!!!

Ok, the wga keeps wanting sag to support the writers, but i feel sort of bad for the new actors who got noms. how awful would that be to get a big break and not get to go to the red carpet? It's not that big of a deal for the A-listers, but the new actors i feel sorry for. I know i would be really upset. Also, economically speaking, strikes are not beneficial for anybody. Think of all the production crew out of jobs! Before everybody jumps on the bandwagon and think they are being cool by supporting the strike, they should do some homework. Strikes are an economic accident.

Another case of the writers trying to fuck everyone. Its an awards show for fucks sake, they honor people who did a good job, but nooo the writers are babies and cant let anyone have their moment.
