Church Of Scientology Convicted Of Fraud In France!

Somewhere in Boston right now, Tom Cruise is having a hissy fit! His most beloved religious order, the Church of Scientology, has been convicted of fraud in a Paris, France, courtroom this morning and was fined $900,000! Tom makes that in a day on one of his crappy films. Hit him up for cash!
Apparently, the fact that the Church has so many celebrity supporters with deep pockets didn't stop Scientology leaders in France from pressuring members of the congregation to pay large amounts of $$$ for "questionable financial gain" and used "commercial harassment" against recruits.
Thus, the French chapter of the organization, which included six leaders of the church, has to pay up. However, in the end, the Church was not forced to dissolve, despite the prosecutor's assertion that it should.
Deep breathes, Tom! The Church already has a bad rep - this can't hurt it anymore than you do!

I heard the stars do not give money to scientology. The cult uses them to attract followers and the followers are required to pay a huge % of their income. The stars in LA have their meetings separate from the every day followers. Also, all of Cruise's employee's HAVE to belong to scientology. I am all for freedom of ALL religions but FRAUD is a crime.

Holy Xenu, Batman! If only the french courts had caught up to David Koresh or Jim Jones before they went too far. This is a cult. They cut people off from their family, have a violent dictator for a leader, demand money and use confessionals as blackmail against people when they want to leave. They may teeter close to the line of a religion, but unfortunately, the step over the line and are most certainly a cult.

If the charges of fraud are actually true then it would reflect badly on the actions of those individual people. not the church as a whole. It has nothing to do with the "beliefs" of the church. France has a history of religious intolerance so it is not suprising that it would happen there.

Good for France! Scientology is not a religion. It's a fraud! L. Ron had a rap sheet a mile long. It is a way to recruit people, pray on their insecurities and pressure them to give up their money. Actors are probably one of the most insecure groups of people out there. Is it any wonder Scientology recruits so many of them?
Too bad they can't be convicted with murdering Jett Travolta. As for Tom well let's just hope he is secretly helping his daughter with autism treatments.

Good for France. U am glad that there is a country that has the guts to question the validity of a religion based on the musings of a science fiction writer. I understand that it can be a blueprint for living for those without a plan or who's life is off the rails. But at the end of the day, Scientology is dangerous and takes advantage of the emotionally screwed up or weak. I hope Katie Holmes has an opportunity to look back at this period of her life when she temporarily sold her soul for a wack of cash.

The French government might have been purposely persecuting the Church of Scientology. NO other country in the world has yet done this in this manner.
Or, the group of leaders in France might have been operating without the support of the rest of the Scientology community and did something wrong. So, they will have to deal with this. And, the church will if this is the case.
In the end, unless you have actually been to a Church of Scientology, don't condemn it. You will be the un-informed idiot that stands before God on your judgement day. At least the Church of Scientology is still working with a fairly decent edtion of the Holy Bible. It is an older version, and might still have unicorns in the pslams. My edition does. I see happiness and peace. Judge it if you wish. Tom and his family are too busy living their happy lives to care what you think.
