Mel Gibson is telling friends he never said John Lennon deserved to die!

Well imagine that!

After Joe Eszterhas accused him of shaming the late musician and activist (among many, many other claims), Mel and his friends apparently laughed their butts off!

In fact, one close source ever says he was playing Imagine at a recent function and says:

We are still BAFFLED by everything we've learned today regarding Mel Gibson. Not surprised. Just IN SHOCK at how disturbing some of the allegations are!!

If you're caught up, then you already know all about Joe Eszterhas accusing Mel of everything from murder plans to shaming the Holocaust!

And before anyone can call BS on his claims, he's come forward to reveal his son caught most of the rants on his iPhone!!!

No word yet on when he plans on releasing the goods… but he does comment on that Maccabees script Warner Bros rejected:

As we discussed earlier, Showgirls writer Joe Eszterhas has made disgusting claims about Mel Gibson as apparent retaliation for a rejected script.

They are just downright nasty, and if there's truth to them, well… Mel is gonna need a lot more than puppet therapy to cleanse himself of that kind of hate, LOLz!

And perhaps the most disturbing claim, though not a surprising one given their past, regards his numerous murder fantasies with ex Oksana Grigorieva.

Joe claims Mel gushed about wanting to kill her several times:

Now that we've learned Mel Gibson (allegedly) celebrates the death of John Lennon and (allegedly) fantasizes about offing his ex, more info reveals DETAILED anti-Semitic claims!

You see, Joe Eszterhas was working on a script for Mels' The Maccabees. And when that was rejected, we guess he figured no use in keeping secrets anymore (that, or he devised an insane revenge plot)! So he wrote a massive letter exposing even more of Mel's alleged hate.

He comes to the conclusion that Mel only wanted The Maccabees made to cover up his past… while spreading even more anti-Semitic hate.

To back this up, he writes:

Wow! We forgot so much hate was possible!!

Now that Mel Gibson and Warner Bros have rejected Joe Eszterhas's script for The Maccabees, he's lashing back!

In a ranting nine-page letter, the Showgirls scribe makes horrible claims against Mel, saying he used to celebrate the death of peace-loving John Lennon!!

Joe asserts Mel once told him things like:

We'll just have to see if Mel Gibson REALLY learned his lesson.

Mel's lawyer, Blair Berk, showed that his client completed his necessary hours in anger management. Not only did Mel complete the required hours, he took some extra classes on the side.

All that's left now is two years of probation for beating Oksana Grigorieva.

Let's hope Mel can keep his fists anger under control from now on.

No one was safe during Seth Rogen's monologue at the 2012 Independent Spirit Awards last night!

The funny man killed it for the most part during his 15-minute opening and even blasted Chris Brown, Mel Gibson, and director/producer Brett Ratner!

He joked:

"At the Grammys, you can literally beat the shit out of a nominee and be asked to perform twice."

"The best thing to come of awards season is we learned what a horrible bigot Brett Ratner is."

"Drive made Jews so scary I thought Mel Gibson directed it."
