Better luck next time, Mel!
Last we heard about Mel Gibson's The Beaver, director Jodie Foster was STILL trying to convince us to love Mel and embrace the movie.
We weren't really feeling it, and apparently nobody else was feeling it either because thus far, The Beaver has only made $104,000 after three days of release in 22 theaters! Ouch!
Looks like Jodie isn't letting the film's lack of Box Office get to her though, because when she spoke at a recent Q&A screening of the film, she had the following to say:
"I don’t care if the movie doesn’t make any money."
Nice to hear that she's staying strong despite having the odds heavily against her with this one.
…Wonder how Mel's feeling about it…
What do U think about The Beaver's weak box office numbers? Do U think it deserves more love? Even less?

And we're like, "eh."
Jodi Foster and Mel Gibson's new movie, The Beaver is out in theaters this Friday, so naturally, the two are doing a lot of press to promote the film. And by the two of them, we mean Jodi is doing all the promoting while Mel deals with his personal life that has been in utter shambles for the better part of the last two years.
Still, though he's left her in the lurch on the promotional trail, Jodi has nothing by nice things to say about him. She insists that working with Mel on the movie was "amazing" and adds:
"I think it's no secret that he's really one of the most loved people in the business, professionally."
Yeah, tell that to the cast of The Hangover II. They might disagree with you.
Save your breath, Jo. His time has come and gone and will only come again AFTER he's settled things with the ex-lover. If he's after redemption, he'll have to wait a bit longer to get it.

Wow! She must be a good friend to say that Mel Gibson's one of the most beloved actors!
We think that might have been true at one point, but certainly that isn't the case nowadays. It'll be quite inneresting to see how The Beaver does despite his real life shenanigans!
To us, it really does look like it could be a good movie. We always like it when Jodie Foster is behind the camera as well as in front of it.
Take a few minutes and watch the director herself continue to stick up for the man and not his actions (we'll be honest, they should be inseparable).
Will U be seeing the Beaver?
Check out the video… after the jump!

We guess she wants to focus on directing from now on!
Jodie Foster, who just finished up taking the directorial reigns on the upcoming Mel Gibson drama, The Beaver, has revealed that she wants to give up acting for good, and has even signed on to direct a new science fiction film!
She explains:
"I've reached that point where I don't want to act very much anymore. I am much more interested in holding off on acting, after 45 years as an actor. It's a long period of time to do the same thing. [Her new science fiction project] There's a family element to it, but it's much more a genre movie. I'd like to do that because that's a world I live in as an actor but I've never really gone to as a director. It's not anywhere close to being ready. [I don't write], so that always puts me at the mercy of some enormous talent that comes out of the woodwork that somehow has the same obsessions as me."
Well, seeing as she's set to appear in the film Elysium, we're relieved to know she's not giving up acting all-together, but think it's great that she's continuing to expand beyond her comfort zone and direct a genre piece!
Keep up the good work, gurl! We're excited to see your career progress down this path!

According to Jodie Foster, it's about the art, not the artist.
At the SXSW premiere of her new movie The Beaver, also starring Mel Gibson, Jodie had one request for moviegoers. Before the screening started she asked:
"I just have to ask everybody, can you see a film and appreciate the artist for his work? And if anything, I think anybody who comes to see the film and understands Mel's extraordinary performance in the movie can't go away untouched by his humanity."
Mel did not show up at the premiere (for obvious reasons).
Jodie has an interesting point. Will moviegoers be able to separate the actor's personal life from his work on screen?
What do U think? Will U still see The Beaver despite Mel's personal troubles?

Last we heard about Gibson's last next movie The Beaver, a DVD with the final cut of the film had been stolen from Mel's mailbox.
Now, the Jodie Foster-directed film has been delayed from March 23 to May 6.
Apparently, the new release date is intended to give Foster and the cast more time to promote the film. Also, it'll give The Beaver's prod company, Summit Entertainment, time to get some "word-of-mouth" hype going around at the SXSW film festival on March 16.
Is it even worth your time, Summit? Maybe it's time to let this one go and focus your attention on Breaking Dawn?
Guess we'll see if this delay helps The Beaver's cause.
Will U see The Beaver if/when it is released?

The world is getting The Beaver, whether they like it or not!
The Jodie Foster-directed drama, which stars Mel Gibson as a troubled man who finds comfort talking to the world through a talking puppet, will make its debut in the SXSW Film Conference on Wednesday, March 16th!
SXSW producer Janet Pierson says:
“Each of these films really showcases an artist stretching his or her wings in some way, whether it be a late-night talk show host taking his act on the road, an actress-filmmaker carefully and beautifully tackling a heartbreaking subject in her finest work yet, or a successful photographer trying out a new medium in a new landscape.”
It hits theaters everywhere else April 8th.
We'll be VERY curious to see how it's received at the festival!
And even MORE curious to see if Mel himself is present for the screening!
What do U think?? Are U excited for The Beaver??

We still do not know what to make of this movie!
Check out the just-released new poster for the upcoming Mel Gibson flick, The Beaver, co-starring and directed by Jodie Foster!
We thought this was supposed to be a comedy!
But this, along with the trailer, make it look as though it's supposed to be a drama which we think will make the whole thing just look kinda creepy!
