Here's hoping! We LOVED them together!
Katie Couric has finally made her decision to leave CBS Evening News public, which in return has prompted speculation regarding a possible syndicated show for the news anchor, and now, she's opening up about the possibility of her former Today Show castmate Matt Lauer joining her in the a new venture when his contract is up in 2012!
She explains:
"Matt and I have undeniable chemistry in the most platonic sense of the word. We are like an old, married couple. We finish each other's sentences. He is very committed to the Today show. But who knows? You never know what the future may bring. We may work together. It's hard to say right now. We have a fun repartee."
Wow!
We don't know about you, but she definitely is pretty optimistic about the possibility, don't you think?!

No surprises here!
Yesterday, we heard that Katie Couric was expected to make an announcement regarding her decision to leave CBS Evening News this week, and sure enough, she did exactly that.
Here's what Katie had to say about her exit from program:
"I'm really proud of the talented team on the CBS Evening News and the award-winning work we've been able to do in the past five years in addition to the reporting I've done for 60 Minutes and CBS Sunday Morning. In making the decision to move on, I know the Evening News will be in great hands, but I am excited about the future."
"I am looking at a format that will allow me to engage in more multi-dimensional storytelling."
We respect your decision, Katie, and we'll look forward to hearing more details about your next move soon!
Do U think Katie's making the right move? Or should she have stuck with CBS Evening News?

Seems like it's finally happening.
For a while now, it's been pretty clear that Katie Couric was planning on leaving CBS Evening News, and now she's expected to make an announcement about it this week!
As we mentioned before, Scott Pelley is by far the top candidate to replace her.
Still no concrete details about where Katie will be headed after she leaves CBS, but all will be revealed very soon!

You know Barbara Walters - she never backs down from asking the tough questions.
This morning, she and the other ladies of The View welcomed Katie Couric to the program and Babz cut right to the chase. She asked Katie, straight out, if she would confirmed she was leaving CBS Evening News. A bit miffed, Katie replied:
"No. First of all, I don't think it's my place to do that. I haven't made a decision. I respect you wanting to ask the question and make news on The View, but I'm not in a position to discuss it at this time."
Of course, that answer didn't stop the rest of the ladies from pressing on her further and asking if she would consider doing a talk show. Again, Katie politely refrained from answering their questions by adding:
"I'm figuring things out…I'm looking at all sorts of opportunities."
Look no further, Katie! Sounds like The View really wants you! You're under the impression that they are trying to get a big headline out of you! Hell no! Babz wants you on her panel - we can sense it!
Or maybe we're reaching, who knows. We do know that when Katie is ready to tell us her next move, she will.
Until then…

Perhaps, perhaps. The next year could see some pretty big changes for them both!
Word around town is that once Katie Couric steps down as anchor for CBS News, she's going to start work on a new syndicated talk show along with Jeff Zucker, whom she worked with on The Today Show. However, Jeff might not be the only collaborator to jump on her project.
As we reported previously, Matt Lauer's contract with The Today Show will be up in December 2012 and it sounds likely that he won't be renewing. Therefore, it is being reported that Matt is interested in reteaming up with Katie on her new show, co-anchoring the morning talk show alongside his former Today Show gal.
Of course, nothing is set in stone yet. We imagine Matt will have to take a lot of things into consideration before deciding to leave his current gig. No doubt the network is going to offer him a BUNDLE of dought to keep him on their payroll. Still, it would be nice to see Matt and Katie together again.
Don't U agree?

Right on the heels of us letting you know that Meredith Vieira could be leaving the Today Show, we're finding out that Matt Lauer might be also abandoning ship.
Could the Today Show lose both hosts??
Here's the insider Lauer tidbit:
"Matt Lauer has notified his NBC bosses that he will be resigning from the "Today" show when his contract expires on December 31, 2012."
When asked about both Vieira and Lauer, NBC just repeated that they're both currently under contract. Awesome, because that's what we wanted to know!
How's about a little transparency?!
2012 is quite the shake up year for anchors, especially since Couric is bouncin' from her job too!
How would U feel about Lauer leaving?

Which anchor's gonna leave us next? DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT, ANDERSON!
Earlier this week, we learned that Katie Couric will be leaving CBS Evening News, and NOW another anchor is expected to move on…
Meredith Vieira of NBC's Today is reportedly planning on leaving her co-anchor position when her contract expires later this year.
According to a source, Vieira is "weary of the demanding early morning hours." Also, her husband has had health issues, which she's said will be "a factor in considering her future on the program."
Here's what a source has said on the subject:
"NBC is doing everything they can to convince her to stay."
And here's what NBC has said about it in a statement:
"The Today show anchors are currently under contract and firmly in place."
Looks like the only way Vieira MIGHT stay at her position is if she's offered a one year deal. Guess we'll see how that plays out…
Will U miss Meredith Vieira when/if she's gone?

So here'e the sitch:
Kate Couric is leaving CBS News. That's a done deal. It's happening. She's bidding the gig bon vovage and she isn't looking back. Now, the real question on everyone's minds is who will replace her. Well, wouldn't you know it, we've got an answer for you!
Turns out, CBS News Chariman Jeff Fager has the perfect man for the job - Scott Pelley, best known for his work as a 60 Minutes correspondent. Scott is very well-respected and has been the Chairman's top pick for the job since it became evident there was a need to replace Katie.
But more so, sources reveal that at the moment, Scott is the only choice the suits have over at CBS, as they can't seem to agree on anyone else as a backup. Scotty is their man.
Which means the only thing left to do is make the transition from Katie to Scott on the show. This has to be handled delicately, however, as the head honchos don't want to offend Katie in hopes that she'll stay with the network to do a syndicated show at the network and "maintain a presence at CBS News." No word yet if Katie has ANY interest in that, however.
You know what might help her decide? $$$ (We hear it talks!)
