It's sad to think that the family is being torn apart when it's a time for them to be closer than ever.

While the Carter family was saying their final goodbyes to poor Leslie at her funeral this weekend, Nick Carter was playing a show in Atlantic City. Later, Nick told the press that the reason he did not attend was that his family didn't invite him! He insisted that some "complicated dynamic" between his loved ones meant he was excluded from the occasion.

Several of Nick's family members have denied this claim and now it seems his little brother Aaron, who he was always close to, is also taking a stand against his bro, claiming the "truth" will come out in due time on his Twitter. He posts:

On the day his sister Leslie was laid to rest, Nick Carter made a surprise appearance at a gay bar in Boston.

He got up on stage and performed some Bon Jovi with the club's host Guinevere.

Guess he's just keeping his mind off his family trauma??

We're not sure, but we hope he's coping with his sister's death in a healthy way.

Too soon? Or has the healing process begun?

Nick Carter was snapped at a concert at Harrah's Resort in Atlantic City.

The singer was pretty chipper during the event, days after his sister's death. Nick did dedicate his tour to his fallen sister.

Hopefully, he is taking the pain in stride.

Whoa. This is just cruel.

Over the weekend, Nick and Aaron Carter's sister Leslie was laid to rest in a small ceremony in Upstate New York. She passed away last week, presumably of an overdose, and it's been a very difficult time for the whole Carter family. One would think that the death of someone everyone held so dear would bring thus dysfunctional family closer together, but it seems that it has only driven a further wedge.

See, we heard that Nick did not attend the funeral while so many other family members, including Aaron, were present and we thought that was odd. Now, we've learned from Nick that the reason he did not say his final good-bye to his little sister was because he wasn't told the time and place. Nick explains:

We're amazed and impressed by his strength.

Last night, Nick Carter returned to the stage and performed a show at NYC's Irving Plaza.

During the show, he dedicated his song Falling Down (above) to his sister Leslie Carter, who passed away earlier this week at the age of 25.

A truly moving and lovely performance. Leslie would be proud.

We're saddened to report that the Carter family will have to wait a bit longer to get closure.

Yesterday, we were heartbroken to learn that Nick and Aaron Carter's sister Leslie Carter passed away at the age of 25.

Then earlier today, we heard that Leslie has been battling an addiction to prescription medication, and that she had moved to Upstate New York in an effort to beat it.

Now, we've learned the upsetting news that Leslie's autopsy was inconclusive, and they'll have to perform a toxicology report due to the fact that there were no visible signs of trauma.

This just makes it all the more tragic.

Although the autopsy on Leslie Carter has yet to determine the cause of her sudden death, sources close to the family have revealed that the sister of Nick and Aaron Carter was battling an addiction to prescription medication, and had moved from Canada to Upstate New York in an attempt to beat it.

While the family members she was staying with had tried to make the environment as safe and sober for her as possible, they left her alone for an hour to run some errands, and when they returned, she was unconscious.

Heartbreaking. Especially to think she was trying to get herself help.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends during this impossibly difficult time.
