After a six-year hiatus, VH1's Hip Hop Honors returned to celebrate the game changers of the hip hop industry.

But this year's event, aptly dubbed All Hail The Queens, was all about that girl power!

Broadcast live for the first time in its history, Monday night's ceremony paid homage to the female trailblazers who burst into the patriarchal genre to make their voices heard — and were honored with AH-Mazing tribute performances!

Hosted by Eve, the evening began with an inspiring statement from Black Lives Matter founders Darnell Moore and Alicia Garza — and also included a taped appearance by First Lady Michelle Obama honoring the women of hip hop!

An Oscar for Dreamgirls, an Emmy for Hairspray?!

We've known for a couple months that NBC's next planned musical is none other than Hairspray Live!, but we only just got our first casting news for the event on Monday… and we could not be more excited!

That's because it was just announced that Jennifer Hudson has been selected to play "Motormouth" Maybelle — the role Queen Latifah portrayed in the 2007 film!

But that's not the only update we've got for ya — Harvey Fierstein will also be reprising his role as Edna Turnblad, for which he won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical back in 2003!

Make sure to catch J.Hud, Harvey, and the rest of the to-be-determined cast when Hairspray Live! debuts Wednesday, December 7 on NBC!

On Saturday, Queen Latifah took home the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Miniseries or Television Movie award at the SAG Awards for her role in Bessie. Bravo!

We just have to note that Miz Latifah's speech at the Hollywood event was the perfect balance of #Humblebragging and inspiring. LOVES it!
