Was Venus Williams driving recklessly?

As we previously reported, the top ranked athlete was involved in a nasty car accident last month at a Florida intersection, leaving Jerome Barson dead and his wife injured. While footage from the scene has since cleared Miz Williams' name in the criminal investigation, it appears as though Barson's estate is still suing the tennis champ for allegedly causing the fatal collision.

The victim's attorney Michael Steinger filed new docs on Tuesday claiming the 37-year-old accelerated from 0 to 20 mph in 4.2 seconds in order to clear the intersection, according to black box data obtained by TMZ. The police report recorded the Barson's Hyundai at 25 mph.

Steinger alleges Venus "looked up, saw the red light, and gunned it" before the Barson's vehicle T-boned her.

It seemed Venus Williams had gone from at fault to in the clear after video of her fatal car accident had shown she had not illegally entered the intersection.

But the estate of the late Jerome Barson is not giving up its wrongful death lawsuit just yet.

According to TMZ, lawyers have now filed a request for all of the tennis star's phone records to double check she wasn't on her cell just before or during the accident.

Venus Williams may not be as culpable as was initially reported.

Previously, Williams had been found at fault for the car accident on June 9 that claimed the life of 78-year-old Jerome Barson.

But on Friday the Palm Beach Gardens Police Department issued a press release, along with security camera footage of the accident, revealing:

"After the initial investigation was conducted, new evidence into the incident was located. Based on the evidence obtained in the ongoing investigation, it has been determined the vehicle driven by Venus Williams lawfully entered the intersection on a circular green traffic signal."

Venus Williams has no words.

The tennis star broke down during a Wimbledon press conference when asked about the fatal car crash she's being sued for — and it's obvious the tragedy has left her speechless.

Last week, the athlete was found at fault in a car crash that occurred last month — one that left 78-year-old Jerome Barson dead. Officials say Williams impeded oncoming traffic by bowing through a red light, and was speeding while distracted.

When asked about the incident during Monday's presser, the 37-year-old was left completely speechless mid-sentence as she tried to keep from breaking down.

While we're sure she's been advised to refrain from making public statements about the accident, as she's currently being sued for wrongful death, it's clear this situation has left Williams shaken.

Watch the clip (below) to see the athlete's emotional moment.
