Willie Nelson Stands Up For Pitbulls In Ohio

Animal lover Willie Nelson is asking for change in Ohio.

In the Midwestern state, pit bulls are labeled as "vicious" by law while other breeds are labeled IF they have killed or seriously injured a human or another dog.

The music legend has written an email asking the Ohio Senate to appeal the law he calls "archaic.

Willie sent the following email:

Ohio is the only state that discriminates against dogs who share a cluster of physical characteristics by classifying this group as ‘vicious’ without any regard to individual dog behavior…These dogs are considered ‘vicious’ at birth, even though there are countless dogs of unknown heritage who are deemed ‘pit bulls’ who are wonderful family pets. In addition to being beloved pets, many ‘pit bulls’ are show dogs, search and rescue dogs, and service dogs. The current law infringes on responsible dog owners’ rights to own any dog they choose, no matter what the dog’s appearance. Dogs, like people, are individuals and should each be judged on his/her own merits.

Toledo, OH has spend a large amount of money euthanized dogs resembling pit bulls.

The bill has currently passed the Ohio House by a 69-29 vote.

Supporters have also asked that each breed of dog be judged individually as well.

Way to go, dog lovers! Teddy says thank you!

Four Young Men Charged In Theft Of Lion Carcass

After hearing of the wild animals loose in Ohio, four young idiots men rushed to the scene.

They came across a dead lion, where people were gathering around, and taking pictures.

They decided they could use a lion to make a rug or stuff it or other disgusting things, so they struggled to load it into the back of their Jeep.

When police arrived on the scene, they stopped the would-be thieves, recovered the lion's body, and charged the men with misdemeanor theft.

Some people are just plain weird.

And now they face up to six months in jail and a $1000 fine if convicted.

Doesn't seem worth it to us.

Leopard

After the release (and then slaughter) of the 50 exotic animals in Ohio, law makers have been swayed to make some changes when it comes to exotic animal ownership.

One person, apparently unswayed, is the wife of the deceased man who freed the animals.

She wants four of the six surviving animals, a grizzly bear and three leopards, back in her custody.

The animals are in temporary quarantine at the Columbus Zoo.

Ohio Governor

It's sad that it took the massacre of 50 of the 56 animals that escaped in Ohio for the Governor to take a look at the animal laws.

Governor John Kasich is going to sign an executive order to push for tighter regulations on exotic animal ownership.

Celeb Reactions To The Ohio Animal Massacre

Exotic Animals Loose

As we've previously mentioned, 50 exotic animals were killed by Ohio police after their owner released them before shooting himself.

This is very upsetting news and we're not the only ones who think so:

Carrie Ann Inaba (of DWTS) tweeted:

"So upset about what happened in OHIO!!! I think they could have tried a little harder to save the animals. It wasn’t their fault."

DJ Samantha Ronson (LiLo's ex) tweeted:

"Did they really have to kill them?"

George Takei tweeted:

"Lions and tigers and bears escape from an Ohio preserve. Oh Myyyy!"

Joel McHale tweeted:

"Monkey w/herpes still loose in Ohio. Q: How do they know? Did dead owner leave a note? 'Monkey has herpes. Good luck!'"

Slash tweeted:

"I get the situation, but there’s no way it was totally necessary to exterminate 49 loose exotic animals in Ohio."

Celebs weren't the only ones upset. PETA chimed in:

"The shooting of dozens of exotic animals in Zanesville is a tragic example of just how wrong things can go when people are allowed to keep wild animals.

PETA hopes that this will serve as a wake-up call to Ohio Governor John Kasich, who earlier this year refused to extend an emergency ban on exotic animals in the state that had been put in place by his predecessor."

We totally understand how bad this could have been, and we'll never know how many deaths and injuries were prevented by the swift action by the Ohio police, but we have to ask ourselves… was there no better way?

A real Liger

After the incident where 50 exotic wild animals were released in Ohio, the ASPCA wants the Governor of Ohio to put an immediate ban on the sale and possession of exotic animals.

Ohio is one of only eight states that doesn't regulate the owning of exotic animals.

Man Let Animals Loose In Ohio Then Killed Himself

Wow.

So apparently the owner of the exotic animal farm in Ohio where all the animals broke free, killed himself.

Police are saying he died of a self inflicted wound.

They said it also appears as if he released many of the animals before killing himself.

This story keeps getting stranger and stranger.

Not all of the animals are yet accounted for so if you live in Ohio, please STAY INDOORS!
