Someone’s had too many cocktails before an interview having a mid-life crisis!
Much to the dismay of Jack Donaghy and 30 Rock fans everywhere, Alec Baldwin has announced that he’s going quit acting in 2012!
He says:
“I don’t have any interest in acting anymore. I’m not young, but I have time to do something else. I consider my entire movie career a complete failure. The goal of moviemaking is to star in a film where your performance drives the film, and the film is either a soaring critical or commercial success, and I never had that.”
Well, that gives the show at least another two years, and it will probably lose its luster by then anyway!
Besides – given all of his behind the scenes antics, we’re not too sad he’s peacing out!

UPDATE: Alec’s PR people have just sent us an email, clarifying that Alec has no plans to retire and is not leaving 30 Rock. While it is true there are two more years left of his 30 Rock deal, the quote posted above is a reprint of an interview with CNN back in March.
Take from that what you will.
