PETA is offering a $500 reward for anyone who sends them a picture of an employee of Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus abusing an elephant.
PETA knows that often times, elephants are abused with bullhooks, a sort of cane with a sharp hook at the end of it, used to pull the animals around.
This almost always happens behind the scenes so PETA hopes it’s reward will incentivise one of the circuses employees to get photographic evidence. PETA said:
“Elephants bear the scars of bullhook abuse and vividly remember the pain of them, but they need the help of people behind the scenes to look out for them.”
With the prevalence, and quality, of camera phones we’d like to think someone will snap a pic or two, collect their reward, and help the elephants.
