At the request of her family, we won’t be identifying the third victim of the horrible Boston Marathon bombing by picture. She was a student at Boston University. The second victim was identified yesterday.
News outlets first thought that it was a student named Zhou Danling, but that was incorrect as the official Xinhua and the Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post were reporting Zhou was only injured.
The consulate had also announced that another student, named Lu Lingzi, was missing. After the announcement, that’s when her family asked to keep it quiet and to keep her pictures out of the press.
The horror on Monday has caused such awful pain and sorrow, and yet again something unimaginably horrible has not broken the will of good and decent people as we watch millions reaching out to help. Our hearts go out to those affected by this in ways that we could never understand.
