Who’s faster than a bolt of lightning?? Justin Gatlin, that’s who!!
The U.S. sprinter did the unthinkable at the 2013 Diamond League meet in Rome as he beat Usain Bolt in the 100m dash!
The Jamaican speedster got off to a surprisingly good start right out of the gate, but Justin was somehow able to keep up and BARELY managed to pull out the victory, winning by 0.01 seconds and posting a blazing fast time of 9.94 seconds! Talk about a photo finish!
After the race, Gatlin said:
“Bolt is a great competitor and a great champion. To come out here and have a victory, it just stamps that I├óΓé¼Γäóm having a good season├óΓé¼┬ª You can never count out Usain.”
Usain has proven time and time again to be the fastest man alive, and the 100m has been his bread and butter as he holds both the Olympic AND the world record for fastest time!
But it’s been Justin’s year, as he’s undefeated in all five of his races this year and has been clocked under ten seconds for four of them! That’s VERY impressive when you also consider he’s 31 years-old!
We know this isn’t exactly the Olympics, but it still fills us with all sorts of patriotic emotions! USA! USA! USA!
Ch-ch-check out the lightning fast performance (above)!
