Here’s a story of a woman who will inspire you to never give up!
Rebekah Marine was born without her right forearm, and she always wanted to be a model.
However, it was difficult for her to find work because of her disability.
She recalled:
“It didn’t go very well, of course, when casting directors noticed my disability. Hearing the words ‘You’ll never have a future in the business,’ really hit me hard.”
But the 28-year-old didn’t stop pursuing her dream, and gained further confidence after receiving her prosthetic arm.
Soon afterward she booked a bridal photo shoot and steadily gained more work, including walking during New York Fashion Week in February and appearing in a Nordstrom catalog.
The model will also walk during NYFW this month in the FTL Moda show on September 13!
“It’s been quite a journey for me. It was hard at first to put myself out there for the whole world to see. But I’ve become quite comfortable with myself now, and I’m the happiest I’ve ever been.”
She’s also learned to take rejection in stride:
“I thought my portfolio was strong, and I had a good message behind it, but [a modeling agency] quickly passed on me. My image isn’t for everyone; I’ve accepted that.”
Remember her story next time you think you can’t do something!
