Don’t come at the Today show family in 2018 without expecting some blistering blowback!
Al Roker took to Twitter on Tuesday to obliterate a commenter who was unimpressed with Hoda Kotb‘s new role as the morning show’s permanent coanchor.
As we reported, NBC made the decision to promote Kotb to full time anchor alongside Savannah Guthrie this week, officially replacing network ladies man, Matt Lauer.

The 53-year-old host received lots of love from viewers following the announcement — but, as we know, Twitter love doesn’t come without a few haters!
Thankfully, the Today show fam is being guarded by a fierce protector, one who can use the power of the winds to blow Twitics back to the crypts of the internet they crept out of.
When a commenter tweeted that she would have prefered a “seasoned man” over Kotb, Roker shadily replied:
Sorry Hoda ur great with Kathylee but not as anchor. Was looking for a seasoned man – guess NBC doesn’t have one.

Sounds like you want a steak, not an anchor https://t.co/YfcVRR7mSS

Ha! Ya got burnt, Barb!
Barb tried to redeem herself by claiming her critique had nothing to do with gender, but Roker wasn’t having it. The exchange continued:
It’s not a gender issue but rather personality. You all are in hype over the wrong issue.

I guess “seasoned man” has nothing to do with gender. I misunderstood. Have a great day https://t.co/8lTBw2b4Mz

Damn. Roker ain’t pulling no punches in a post-Lauer world! Let’s hope he starts to be this shady on air.
