Maybe Alec Baldwin should cool it with his Donald Trump impression, because he’s starting to sound like the guy — and not in a funny way.
The actor has come under fire for an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in which he claims that black people “love” him due to the Trump spoofs he does on Saturday Night Live.

Interviewer Lacey Rose described an interaction Baldwin had with a fan named Tyrone, who approached the 60-year-old actor on the streets of New York City to praise his Trump portrayal, recalling:
“Though he’s waving and pointing and causing something of a scene, the often-irritable Baldwin doesn’t mind a bit. In fact, he calls Tyrone over and the two begin cracking each other up. It’s hard to tell who’s enjoying the other more.”
Baldwin then apparently revealed he gets these fan encounters “incessantly,” telling the reporter:
“I don’t know how to say this and I don’t want to get it wrong either, because everything is a minefield of bombs going off, but ever since I played Trump, black people love me… They love me. Everywhere I go, black people go crazy. I think it’s because they’re most afraid of Trump. I’m not going to paint every African-American person with the same brush, but a significant number of them are sitting there going, ‘This is going to be bad for black folks.’”
As he predicted, the actor’s comment set off a minefield on Twitter. See some of the best reactions (below).

Those who had opinions on Baldwin made it clear they weren’t very high:
.@AlecBaldwin WHAT THE HELL are you talking about?!
We still remember you calling the black photographer a ‘coon,’, a ‘drug dealer,’ and a ‘crackhead.’
We remember you tweeting ‘n*ggas’
Black people are neither in love with you playing a bigot on TV nor being one in real life. https://t.co/2bn5PVa3Pl
