Borat Almost Hosted The Oscars

Now that would have been inneresting!

Apparently Sacha Baron Cohen was suggested to host this year’s Academy Awards — a suggestion that producers The Academy shut down immediately!

Producers Bill Mechanic and Adam Shankman both agreed that Cohen should host the Oscars in what would have been quite the show because we’re certain he would have appeared as one or several of his alter egos including Ali G, Borat and Bruno.

But as soon as the came up with the idea says Shankman, “the Academy swatted it down. They thought it was too big of a wild card.”

Well they went with quite a BORING safe choice in Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin. But maybe they’ll surprise us!
