Apparently, some folks at Alec Baldwin‘s church never asked themselves, “What would Jesus do?”
Or they did and he said, “Turn your back to the guy from 30 Rock when he speaks at the pulpit!”
Well, that’s exactly what people did during a Sunday service at the Most Holy Trinity Parish in East Hampton two weeks ago.
We’re not exactly sure why anyone would ever pull that kind of a shenanigan in church, but here’s what one source said:
“Alec loves to be the center of attention and often reads from the pulpit, which really annoys some in the congregation. It is so bad that, one recent Sunday, he went up to read, and part of the congregation stood and rudely turned their backs on him. Even though he has generously given a lot of money to the town, there are people who just don├óΓé¼Γäót like him. He has a need for attention and shows up at every event. When people go to the church, they don├óΓé¼Γäót want to see the movie star up there.”
Another opinion is that those backs belonged to Republicans who simply disagreed with the actor’s liberal views.
Maybe Rev. Donald Hanson can get to the bottom of this. When asked about the incident, he said:
“Alec Baldwin reads from time to time at the church, and read again on Sunday two weeks ago. I was told that happened, but I did not personally witness it, as another priest was saying the Mass.”
Nope! Pass the mic to Baldwin’s rep:
“Alec was focused on the prayers, so he has no way of knowing if this happened. But does someone violating the sanctity of a church even deserve a response?”
True that! It sounds like whoever turned their backs during the prayer has a lot of growing up to do.
