Alec Baldwin doesn’t believe Felicity Huffman should serve any jail time for her part in the college admissions scandal. Not only that, he doesn’t think ANYONE who participated should (ahem, Lori Loughlin).

On Wednesday, the 61-year-old took to Twitter to share his opinion about the Desperate Housewives alum, who had reported to a Bay Area prison the day prior, and why he doesn’t think her crime is worthy of any time.
Mr. Baldwin tweeted out:
“I don’t think anyone involved in the college fraud cases should go to prison. That includes past cases as well. Community service, fines, yes. But prison time, no. My heart goes out to Felicity, Bill Macy and their family.”
When called out by a critic for being “tone deaf,” the father of five replied:
“Community service is better. The demonization of wealth in this country is mind blowing. A country built on both freedoms and commerce. Now, all success is scrutinized. Merely to succeed, especially financially, invites scrutiny, judgment, abuse.”
Another user on the social media site called out (below) the fact that the 51-year-old did commit a crime, regardless of the nature:
“White collar crime is still crime. If a black woman can get 5 yrs for unknowingly voting as a felon, Ms Huffman will survive her weeks in detention for fraud which will later have zero affect on her future income or life except to be an embarrassing misstep of her past.”
In response, the frequent Donald Trump portrayer replied:
“But the woman you refer to should not have gone to prison either. Are you suggesting that Huffman’s case is a form of reparation?”
In case you’ve somehow missed it, the Academy Award nominee pleaded guilty to mail fraud (doesn’t really describe her actual crime: bribing a test proctor $15,000 to redo her daughter’s SAT test), becoming first parent to be sentenced to prison in the infamous college admissions scandal.
Baldwin isn’t the first to debate this sentence — a fine of $30,000, a year of supervised release, and 250 hours of community service — which was served to William H Macy‘s wife. Aside from Alec, many others like Eva Longoria have also seen it as too harsh. But like the one Twitter user above, they’ve seen it as a slap on the wrist considering the time many people serve for their crimes.
