Kim Basinger has had a tough time with love!
In a candid interview with Edit Magazine, the beauty recalled her dramatic and painful split from Alec Baldwin back in 2001. The actress also spoke out on what it was like to raise their daughter, Ireland Baldwin, as a product of divorce.

For those who don’t know, Basinger and Baldwin had a HORRIFIC relationship for many years, including a drawn out custody dispute over Ireland. Baldwin even went as far to insinuate K.B. was the one who leaked a voicemail of Alec referring to Ireland as a “a rude, thoughtless little pig” back in 2007.
Revealing where the two stand today, Basinger explained:
“Divorce is hard on a kid, no matter how you cut it. And ours was very public and nasty… [Alec and I are] cool now, though. Life goes on.”
Well, we’re glad these two were able to work it out! We weren’t sure if that was ever going to happen, TBH.
As for how the beauty managed to keep things happy for her kiddo, she confided:
“So I brought up Ireland in a very unconventional way. I just wanted her to be free. If she wanted to have her friends over and write over the walls with pen, that was fine. I wanted her childhood to be full of love and light and animals and friends.”
Sounds like the leading lady did her best! Co-parenting is never easy.
