Justin Trudeau's Fur-ocious Family Christmas Card

Justin Trudeau surrounds his family with fur this Christmas

Justin Trudeau, a liberal member of Canadian Parliament, has come under fire for his fur-clad family Christmas card this year.

The card depicts his family wrapped in fur coats and a fur blanket with an inscription reading:

“During this holiday season, let’s celebrate what’s most important by surrounding ourselves with love and warmth.”

The picture has outraged animal rights activists, including PETA, who find the card “lurid”, instead of cheery.

Lucas Soloway, a member of PETA and co-president of the Concordia University Animal Rights Association, said:

“I was shocked and upset to see it. I think it was disturbing, especially at this time of year in a greeting card. Where is the cheer in wearing the skins of animals?”

As for Trudea, he doesn’t seem to think he has done anything inappropriate, tweeting last Friday:

“I’m glad to support both Canadian products and sustainable fur, but it’s mostly just a family Christmas card.”

We’d prefer to see less used-to-be animal and more of our family on our Christmas cards, but hey, that’s just us.

Trudeau declined to do an interview about the cards, but an official in his office said the family wore their coats, made by Canada Goose, because they know the owners of the Canadian-owned company.

We support animals, not their fur, so if you’re looking to stay warm this winter check out animal-free alternatives!
