First, Tyrese Gibson gave a short introduction, honoring some of the fallen stars important to the BET community.

Then, rather than a moment of silence, we had rousing performances of Chuck Berry‘s Johnny B. Goode and George Michael‘s I’m Never Gonna Dance Again that got the whole crowd moving.
So celebratory! We really love this approach!
