Breaking Dawn Director Bill Condon Calls Birth Scene A "Visceral Experience" For Fans

Some people are excited to see the wedding. Some people are holding back screams to see the bed breaking sex scene. (US!!!!) But EVERYONE is awaiting to see how director Bill Condon tackles argueably the most controversial and bloody sequence of The Twilight Saga – the birth of Renesmee Cullen.

For those of you who don’t know (SPOILER ALERT) Edward plants his vampire seed in Bella during their honeymoon and she VERY QUICKLY becomes very pregnant with his demon(?) spawn. At the end of Part 1, Bella will give birth to their child. In the book, it’s a pretty gruesome scene, WAY TOO graphic for a PG-13 rating. So, how does Bill Condon handle such a pivotal scene? At Comic-Con this weekend, he explained:

“I gave myself one real rule, which was, ‘Let’s only see what Bella could see lying there.’ All this stuff is happening [around her] and she is seeing it from her point of view. She can look around, she can look up, but basically you get to experience every moment of that birth, including if you read the book ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ you know exactly what that image means. If you haven’t read the book, you might not know because it’s not being absolutely explicit … It’s not putting the camera in every place but believe me, I think you’ll get a very visceral experience.”

That’s one way of handling it! In fact, now that he mentions it, it’s probably the better way to handle it. The last thing we want to see while in the theater is a bunch of 13-year-olds puking because they can’t handle the gore. That would just ruin everything! Yuck!

Good call, Bill! So far, we think you’re on the right track. Now … LEAK SOME MORE FOOTAGE!!!

P.S. – When we were at the press conference, KStew also talked about this scene briefly. When you finally do see this scene and you see the little baby’s hand reach out to touch her face, keep this quote of her’s in mind:

“[The puppeteer] is sweating right below my eye line, trying to [reach] up to get the [animatronic baby’s] hand up to touch your face. And then it sticks to your hair and pulls a little bit and you’re like, ‘Ew, get that thing off me! Get me a real baby, this is ridiculous!’ And it had hair!”

WEIRD!!!!
