Christy Carlson Romano went through a pretty terrifying ordeal recently!
In a post on Instagram on Friday, the former child star revealed she got “shot in the eye” while shooting clay pigeons in Texas “as a present” to her husband, Brendan Rooney, for his birthday! OMG! According to Christy, the incident happened after “another party” had “unsafely fired in the wrong direction” and “shot [her] in the face.” She continued in the caption:
“@thebrendanrooney immediately sprung into action, assessed me, and rushed me to the hospital. I was hit in 5 places, one was less than an inch from hitting me directly in my right eye.”

While the Disney actress noted in the accompanying video that she is now “safe,” there are fragments of the bullet still stuck in both her right eye and her forehead! And she can’t get them out yet! Oh no! She explained that the fragment “lodged behind” her eye “is too risky to remove surgically at this time.” Now, Christy’s doctors “will continue to monitor” her. She shared that she thankfully “can see normally at the moment.” But most importantly? The Kim Possible alum is “grateful” she survived the incident:
“With everything that happened, all I can think about is how grateful I am to be alive. I love my daughters, husband, family, and friends so much. I saw my life flash before my eyes and I’m telling you, hug the people around you every chance you can. Life can change in an instant.
”
”Christy got so lucky because this could have been a whole lot worse! In the video, the Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test competitor also expressed her gratitude to all the first responders and doctors at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center who helped her before. She then added as she showed off her injuries:
“This is really bad tonight. Everything’s kinda clearing out, but I get to say I got shot in the face, and lived to tell the tale. Be grateful for every day.”
Wow! How scary! Thank goodness that Christy is OK! You can see her wounds in the video (below) — but warning it’s graphic!

For his part, Brendan praised Christy for her bravery throughout this situation. He wrote in the comments section:
“You are the bravest, toughest, most stoic and badass woman I have ever met. I am so thankful you are alive. I am so thankful you are the mother to our children. I wouldn’t know what to do without you. I love you more than life itself.
