Cirque Du Soleil Performer Tragically Dies During Kà Show In Las Vegas!

cirque du soleil performer dies in accident at show
Just a complete tragedy!
We hate to report that a wonderful Cirque du Soleil performer died this weekend while performing in Kà.
Sarah (Sassoon) Guyard was performing in Las Vegas during the final fight scene when she was being hoisted up into the air and then apparently slipped free from her safety wire. She ended up falling into the pit section during the 50-foot drop!
Audience members were not able to see where she fell, but it was clearly a horrible moment. One person revealed:

“Initially, a lot of people in the audience thought it was part of the choreographed fight. But you could hear screaming, then groaning, and we could hear a female artist crying from the stage.”

She was pronounced dead at a hospital which is the first death in Cirque’s 30-year history.
Cirque’s founder, Guy Laliberte, released a statement about the sad event:

“I am heartbroken. I wish to extend my sincerest sympathies to the family. We are all completely devastated with this news. Sassoon was an artist with the original cast of K├â┬á since 2006 and has been an integral part of our Cirque du Soleil tight family. We are reminded, with great humility and respect, how extraordinary our artists are each and every night. Our focus now is to support each other as a family.
We have been working with the appropriate authorities and have offered our full cooperation. Performances of K├â┬á will be canceled until further notice.”

We hope something like this never happens again.
Our thoughts are with Sarah’s family, her two young children, and her friends.
