It was announced today McCanick, one of Cory Monteith‘s final films, will screen at the Toronto International Film Festival this September.
We’re thrilled the movie found an audience, but the character he plays in it just breaks our heart (above)!
In it, the late Glee star is both a druggie and a hustler. Director Josh C. Waller says Cory even tapped into his own tempestuous past in order to nail the part.
The director revealed:
“The character he plays is this drug-addicted street hustler, and he was wanting to tap into things from his youth — which he’s been very open about publicly. I think he saw the role as an opportunity for catharsis.”
Ugh!!! We’re still so broken up over the loss of such a bright young star; hopefully this McCanick does his justice.
The film premieres at TIFF on September 9th.
