Downton Abbey Star Maggie Smith Is About To Do Something She NEVER Does For The Golden Globes!

Fresh off Thursday morning’s Golden Globes nominations that recognized a whole bunch of new talent, one of the industry’s more experienced players is trying to get the spotlight back on her.
We’re hearing that Dame Maggie Smith may actually attend the awards this year!!!

After receiving her nomination from the HFPA for The Lady In The Van, the 80-year-old actress issued a rare statement to E! News, saying:

“I am absolutely thrilled to be nominated for a Golden Globe, and to be in such terrifically talented company. I look forward to seeing you all in L.A. in January. Thank you.”

In case you haven’t realized, the Downton Abbey star NEVER attends award shows, even though she sometimes wins — as was the case at the 2014 SAG Awards.
But it sounds like this time she may actually be ready to mingle with her fellow deserving actors. The Dowager Countess ain’t afraid of no Ricky Gervais! LOLz!
