Donald Trump HATES Colorado's Portrait Of Him! But Here's The Real Story Behind The Painting...

Donald Trump Storms Out Courtroom Fraud Trial

Donald Trump wants his portrait from the Colorado State Capitol Building GONE!

Trump surprised everyone with his Truth Social diatribe on the painting on Sunday. He attacked Democratic governor Jared Polis for what he considers a “purposefully distorted” mockery.

He wrote:

“Nobody likes a bad picture or painting of themselves, but the one in Colorado, in the State Capitol, put up by the Governor, along with all other Presidents, was purposefully distorted to a level that even I, perhaps, have never seen before.”

The most upsetting part to Trump, it seems, was that the Barack Obama portrait next to it — also by painter Sarah A. Boardman — looked much better, in his estimation:

“The artist also did President Obama, and he looks wonderful, but the one on me is truly the worst. She must have lost her talent as she got older. In any event, I would much prefer not having a picture than having this one…”

Here’s the portrait, btw:

Trump went on to claim “many people from Colorado have called and written to complain” about the painting — and he and these alleged people are blasting the governor:

“In fact, they are actually angry about it! I am speaking on their behalf to the Radical Left Governor, Jared Polis, who is extremely weak on Crime, in particular with respect to Tren de Aragua, which practically took over Aurora (Don’t worry, we saved it!), to take it down. Jared should be ashamed of himself!”

The thing is, like the portrait or not, it wasn’t Governor Polis who commissioned it.

The painting has been there since way back in 2019! See, this was actually art done for Trump’s first term in office. We guess he’s just now seeing it for the first time? That was Polis’ first year as governor, but he didn’t have anything to do with the painting.

9 News Denver explained that a group called Colorado Citizens for Culture collects money for the presidential portraits which hang in the Capitol. Only in 2018, when they first tried to raise the money, that was over a year into Trump’s presidency… and so, of the needed $10,000, they were able to raise a reported $0.

That month a political activist made a statement by hanging a portrait of Russian president Vladimir Putin in the spot that had been reserved for Trump. Donald never complained about that, so far as we can tell.

Anyway, it was a Republican State Senator named Kevin Grantham who finally raised the money by setting up a GoFundMe. The painting was commissioned and then approved by the Colorado Senate Republicans, who hosted the event unveiling it in August 2019. So you see, Trump is actually bashing people who sincerely wanted to glorify him with the painting.

We guess he’s has never heard of the Streisand Effect.
