Dr. Dre has been very active in the music industry since the release of his sophomore album 2001! So, you might have forgotten that the prolific producer’s last album was released in 1999!
But the Nuthin’ but a “G” Thang rapper’s musical hiatus will shortly come to an end. It’s been announced that Dre will release his first new album in over 15 years!

This weekend, the 50-year-old announced on Apple Music’s Beats 1 radio that he would be debuting Compton: A Soundtrack By Dr. Dre on Friday, August 7!
The Beats By Dre creator explained that the inspiration for his return to the recording studio was the premiere of Straight Outta Compton — the upcoming film that tells of the rapper’s rise to fame through his rap group N.W.A.!
Dre is portrayed in the film by Corey Hawkins, and also served as producer of the biopic. He said this about his upcoming album:
“I felt myself being so inspired by the movie that I started to record an album. It’s going to be my grand finale. The record is bananas.”
According to the track list, Dre has enlisted in the help of collaborators like Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Ice Cube, and Eminem for his singles. Check out the full track list (below):
