It looks like a third season is out of the question for Oxygen’s The Glee Project, which bums us out when we’re ALREADY bummed out by Glee news this week.
The show, if you hadn’t seen it, was a competition show that gave out roles on Glee as a prize, and brought on cast members Damian McGinty and Samuel Larsen.
In their statement, Oxygen explained why they wouldn’t be renewing the show (and the reason might surprise you):
“The Glee Project will not be returning to Oxygen, but we are extremely proud of this series which launched the careers of several talented individuals. The show had so much heart and we thank Ryan Murphy and all of the creative talent who helped make the series a critical darling.”
Sources ARE saying that the cancellation was on the horizon anyway, and has nothing to do with Cory Monteith‘s passing. Ratings were the main concern, with only 800k viewers watching last season’s finale.
Maybe another outlet will pick it up, but it’s not looking good!
