Jax Taylor has made up his mind that he’s going to win back wife Brittany Cartwright!
The Valley star and his estranged bride were at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner over the weekend. What were the two Vanderpump Rules alums doing in DC for the swanky annual event?! Well, it was a shock to Jax, too! The 44-year-old couldn’t believe that they’d been invited. But once there, he opened up quite a bit about everything that’s been going on!

The Bravo vet began by offering up some gratitude for even being allowed to come to the high-end event. Speaking to ET, he said:
“I’m overwhelmed. I’m just in awe that I’m here. That I was invited to something so extravagant. Like I said, I’m speechless, I’m honored to be here.”
No kidding! Naturally, the outlet asked whether he and Brittany were there together for a date night or if they were just paired up platonically to enjoy the outing together. Jax quipped:
“Depends on how much we have to drink tonight.”
Uhhh…!
That definitely flies in the face of a recent criticism Jax made of his estranged wife! But anyways! Jokes aside, tho, Jax did say the duo was “trying to figure things out.” And he has a plan for that! He explained he was working on himself and trying to get his life in order before figuring out what is going to happen long-term with Brittany:
“We’re just trying to figure things out. I’ve given you real-time, I don’t know what’s going to happen. I am definitely working on myself right now.”
He wasn’t specific about what work he was doing, but it sounds like his self-improvement plan is part of a push to win Brittany back! Reflecting on the space they have built up amid their separation, he admitted to missing her “a lot.” And he copped to hoping she’ll take him back eventually, too:
“The separation has definitely been good for me, but I do miss her. I miss her a lot. So, I don’t know, we’ll see if she’ll take me back.”
That’s the goal, then! He’s trying to make things right between them — and he’s got the first step down, admitting he was wrong! Obviously, he’s got a lot of work to do. And he knows that! He admitted to the outlet that one specific thing he’s been confronted with thus far is his communication style. He began to realize while watching episodes of The Valley that his method of communication can be a little intense at times. If he can change that, it sounds like he’s hopeful for good things ahead with son Cruz‘s momma:
“I need to communicate better. My delivery’s really awful. I have a very short fuse. I need to learn to live in the moment, be present. I need to learn patience. I got a lot of work to do.”
So, there’s the to-do list: (1) work on himself, (2) communicate better, (3) change his delivery, (4) lengthen out that “very short fuse,” and (5) win Brittany back. Maybe??? If he’s lucky! (And speaking of lucky, he’ll also need to see to the lady’s needs a bit more, you know what we mean?)
Jax also used the WHCD red carpet chat to double down on his assertion that infidelity was not the reason for their split. He told the outlet:
“No, and everybody just assumes when there’s a split there’s infidelity and there’s cheating. Believe it or not, there are other reasons too. I know I don’t have the best track record, but no, this was just a communication thing.”
He’s not kidding about his track record…
Taylor also specifically addressed longstanding rumors of affairs and speculation he’d had an untoward relationship with his own publicist. He dismissed that outright as “hearsay,” saying:
“Oh, that, not again. That was all just hearsay, and it’s just a shame that that happened. But yeah, no, nothing happened there.”
That’s the story, then — at least according to Jax!
