Jesse Eisenberg is going really method to play Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman.
Not only did he really shave his head, he’s genuinely upsetting some fans!

After the weekend’s festivities at San Diego Comic-Con, the actor compared the experience of getting mobbed by fans to “some kind of genocide.”
Obviously some people were offended by the remarks.
Though Jesse isn’t apologizing, he did clarify:
“I of course was using hyperbole to describe the sensory overload I experienced. I sometimes do employ that. I’m a normal person who has normal sensory experiences, so Comic-Con was very overwhelming for me. That said, it was really an honor to be on that end of such jubilation.”
His The End Of The Tour costar Jason Segel, who was also being interviewed, tried to help out saying:
“You’re also the villain in the movie. There’s like a WWF-style theatrics to it.”
To which Jesse added:
“They expect me to use hyperbole! If I didn’t, I’d be the hero who usually speaks pretty practically.”
Hyperbole or not, this was obviously a pretty poor word choice. An event being really loud and crowded doesn’t usually lead one to think of mass murder.
Even if you’re exaggerating, the more accurate historical comparison should probably have been being at the center of a riot or being a gladiator in the Colosseum or something, right?

Really anything but what he said!
We just hope he understands there are lots of people who’ve survived genocide, and to them his comments probably seem pretty darn ignorant.
